Appeal of Human Rights Center regarding Timely Registration of Plots of Land of Senior Citizens
Human Rights Center carries on the project “Mitigation of Effects of the Pandemic for Elderly Citizens.” Volunteers in Gori, Kareli, Khashuri and Kaspi municipalities inquired 200 elderly person through direct visits who have named as one of the most unresolved problems the registration of titles on the plots of land. Despite the launch by the State of the pilot project of land registration from 2016, many households in the region were still not able to register their plots of land.

Statement of Human Rights Center: justice shall protect women against all forms of violence
HRC carries on protecting the interests of the head of news service of Trialeti TV Company, Lela Lobjanidze, who became a victim of a death threat from an MIA employee and his family members. The judgment rendered on April 6 to release the accused persons from a measure of restraint was possibly due to their employment status and unlawful protectionism, because of which the affected woman up to the date is afraid of moving freely and of the threat that would be carried out by the accused persons.

Statement by Human Rights Center regarding the Unlawful Restriction of Freedom of Assembly in the Context of the Spread of the New Coronavirus
Human Rights Center (HRC) monitors the steps taken by the State to combat the coronavirus pandemic. The area of interest of HRC is the actions taken by the state to help the citizens affected by the coronavirus, as well as the restrictions introduced for the prevention of the spread of the coronavirus. Restrictions against coronavirus impacted different categories of fundamental rights. One of the areas of observation of HRC is the restrictions that hinder the full realization of civil rights and freedoms.

The Coalition Reacts to the Announced Changes in the Rule of the Composition of the Supreme Court
The Coalition for an Independent and Transparent Judiciary reacts to the amendments to the Organic Law of Georgia on Common Courts submitted by Anri Okhanashvili, Chairman of the Legal Issues Committee, and believes that the proposed fragmented changes are completely detached from the current reality. The new initiative does not improve the appointment process and increase public trust, nor does it address important challenges faced by the court system.

Human Rights Center responds to Death of Galilean Nurse moved from Gali District to Anaklia Quarantine Facility
On March 16, 2021, a Galilean nurse who crossed Enguri Bridge with heart problems died in the quarantine facility of Anaklia. According to media reports, the woman had chronic heart disease. She became sick in the quarantine facility and an ambulance was called to the site. Despite the medical care provided, the woman could not be saved
